What is Cryotherapy?

Clear Skin Instantly

Medical cryotherapy applies extreme cold to targeted skin growths. This freezes the water inside the abnormal cells, destroying them without the need for cutting or stitches.

Medical cryotherapy applies extreme cold to targeted skin growths. This freezes the water inside the abnormal cells, destroying them without the need for cutting or stitches. The treated lesion turns into a scab and falls off naturally, revealing fresh, healthy skin underneath.

Versatile Treatment

Effective for skin tags, warts, seborrheic keratosis (barnacles of aging), and sun spots.

Precision Application

We use precision spray tips or probes to target only the lesion, sparing the surrounding healthy skin.

FAQ

Common Questions

Does it hurt?+

It is generally well-tolerated. You will feel a cold shock followed by a stinging sensation that lasts for a few minutes. No anesthesia is usually required.

Will it leave a scar?+

Cryotherapy carries a low risk of scarring compared to surgical excision. However, a small white spot (hypopigmentation) can sometimes remain, which usually fades over time.

How long does it take to heal?+

For most skin tags and age spots, the crust falls off in 7-10 days on the face and 10-14 days on the body. Warts may require a second treatment.

Is it covered by MSP (Medical Services Plan)?+

Cosmetic lesions (skin tags, age spots) are NOT covered. However, medically necessary treatments (like pre-cancerous Actinic Keratosis or warts causing pain) MAY be covered. Dr. Jiang will assess this during your visit.

Can I wash my face after?+

Yes, you can shower and wash gently. Avoid scrubbing the treated area or picking at the scab, as this can cause scarring.
