Common Questions
Is it painful?+
Most patients describe the sensation as a rubber band snapping against the skin. It is generally very tolerable, especially thanks to the Vectus Sapphire cooling tip that keeps the skin cold.
How many sessions do I need?+
Hair grows in cycles (Anagen, Catagen, Telogen). Laser only kills hair in the active growth phase. Therefore, typically 6-8 sessions spaced 4-8 weeks apart are needed to catch all hairs in their active phase.
Does it work on blonde, red, or grey hair?+
No. The laser targets melanin (pigment). If the hair has no pigment (white/grey) or very little (blonde/red), the laser cannot 'see' it. It works best on dark hair.
Can I shave or wax before treatment?+
You MUST shave the area 24 hours before your appointment. However, you must NOT wax, pluck, or thread for 4 weeks prior, as the laser needs the hair root to be present to work.
Is it safe for melanin-rich or tanned skin?+
Yes—especially with Vectus. Higher melanin levels can increase burn risk with older lasers when settings are guessed. The Vectus Skintel Reader measures your specific melanin index so we can use settings that are effective while staying within a safe range.
